Spotlight – In international business, almost every market around the world does things in a different way. This often leads to misunderstandings and unfulfilled expectations. However, different does not need to mean difficult and knowledge of the needs and characteristics of specific geographic markets is an advantage to those who are active in the global economy. These articles help you understand different aspects of the insurance industry around the world, enabling those who do business there to feel more “at home, abroad.”

This month’s Spotlight focuses on the Access to Insurance Initiative. The goal of this organisation is to enhance broad-based, demand-oriented and sustainable access to insurance for low-income clients, thereby growing financial inclusion in the insurance sphere. Recently the first “Inside” was launched, a publication which introduces the Initiative and presents its goal, aspirations and activities to partners and all interested parties. The “Inside” also provides details on the Initiative’s four key activity areas:

  1. Building knowledge and learning
  2. Undertaking country projects
  3. Contributing to IAIS standard-setting and
  4. Advocacy and engagement in international platforms
